With over twenty (20) years of experience and knowledge in the hospitality industry ranging from convention hotels to association & corporate meeting planner, Debra has remained at the TOP of her field after receiving her Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation. Prior to arriving in Austin, Debra gained a strong understanding and sensitivity to business while based in Washington, DC. As the business development manager for one of the nation’s largest full service destination management companies headquartered in Washington, D.C, she worked on such events as:
2000 Presidential Inauguration Celebrations in Washington, DC responsibilities included logistical coordination, security screening, and transportation for the family and friends of President Bush and Vice President Chaney
Traveled across the country with Fortune 500 clients like Wyeth and Bayer to handle their special events during conventions & meetings
Traveled and planned off site events, private dinners and meetings with National Trade Associations such as: American Petroleum Institute (API), American Urological Association (AUA) and the Independent Community Bankers Association (ICBA)
Since the fall of 2001, Debra has focused on defining exceptional service in Austin. Modeling other service industries like the airlines, education, healthcare, and consumer markets Designed Events of Austin provides the highest quality and value to their clients. This approach strengthens and helps to position the company as well as the city of Austin to compete for business equal to destinations like San Diego, California, Scottsdale, Arizona, and Orlando, Florida.

Our Staff are professionals and trained within the various industries. They dedicate time and attention on a program to program basis.
Joann Nangle – Transportation Supervisor brings over 15 years of experience in the airline and airport industry. Joann coordinates the meet and greets services at airport upon group arrivals. She is also responsible for the off site event transfers for the guests during their stay.
Darlene Thibodeau –Program Assistant. An extensive background in residential and commercial design of custom homes, Darlene handles the décor, and layout to assure your formal and informal dining experience is a memorable one.
Sue Peterson – Tour Coordinator, with her extensive knowledge of Texas History & Literature. Sue, a former literature professor enhances your tours with stories and answers guiding you through the city of Austin.
Cindy Patton – Program Coordinator, Cindy is nationally recognized by Better Homes & Gardens and Southern Living Magazine as a commercial and residential landscape architect and entrepreneur. Cindy designs and creates a unique environment for a lasting impression that brings you back for more.
Christine Elliott – Tour & Program Assistant. Christine a registered nurse is involved in group outings. She is readily available to handle the security, safety, and health to each program.
